MISSOULA - Michael McVey of Great Falls is accused of reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour in a chase with law enforcement that started in Great Falls and ended in Missoula.
McVey, 20, is facing six charges including theft, criminal endangerment, and eluding a peace officer.
Prosecutors say the chase started in Great Falls when McVey allegedly ran the Cascade County Sheriff off the road; McVey was reportedly driving a stolen Nissan at the time.
Then Missoula law enforcement tried to pull McVey over near Bonner and he took off driving through a school zone at 100 miles an hour.
Once he reached Missoula, two detectives caught up to him on Curtis Street when he crashed into another car and got stuck in the snow.
Prosecutors say McVey has 13 citations on his driving record on top of his criminal history.
Deputy Missoula County Attorney Shaun Donovan noted, "He has a criminal history that includes about 16 entries, half of them misdemeanor convictions and the other half charges for which dispositions aren't shown."
The judge set bail for McVey at $50,000 and told him that he needed to get a mental health evaluation.
