HELENA - Governor Brian Schweiters has ordered all flags in Montana lowers to half staff on Thursday to honor the memory of former Montana Attorney General and state Senate President Joe Mazurek, who passed away this week.

Mazurek died Tuesday after battling Alzheimers disease for several years. He was 64 years old.

Mazurek served as Montana Attorney General from 1993 to 2000.

Prior to that, he served 12 years in the state Senate, serving as Senate President during the 1991 Legislature.

Mazurek is survived by his wife, Patty, and three sons, Jeff, Tom and Dan.

There will be a public vigil for Mazurek Thursday at the Carroll College P.E. Center in Helena, at 7 p.m.
