MISSOULA - Plan on hitting the open road during the upcoming Memorial Day weekend? Gas prices are expected to remain high through the holiday, but then prices are predicted to decline in the days after.
Montana Gas Prices DOT COM reports the average price for a gallon of gasoline will be $0.30 higher than last year's holiday weekend. The average price for fuel across the country is expected to be $2.75 per gallon.
There is a bright spot, though. This will be the second CHEAPEST Memorial Day weekend on record since 2006.
And, Gas Buddy forecasts much of the U-S will see falling prices after the holiday. In Montana, prices have already fallen $0.04 per gallon from $2.95 earlier this month to $2.91.
Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan says, "Falling gasoline prices couldn't have come at a better time for motorists as they prepare to set out on their weekend plans."
