BILLINGS - The Frontier Conference finished up two days of meetings with most of the discussion centering around the idea of expansion. The conference is inviting four universities and colleges for further discussion.

The following schools have been invited to join: Southern Oregon (football only), Menlo College (football only), Dickinson State (all sports), and Jamestown College (all sports).

The Frontier Conference Counsel of Presidents released the following statement as for their interest in expansion "for several reasons, including increasing opportunites for student athletes, an increased level of competition and excellence, and greater national recognition to reflect our success in winning championships at the national level."

While the concept of expanding the conference seems to have many benefits, they also list some causes for concern that may make schools hesitate such as travel costs, safety, and time away from classes for student athletes.

The discussions with the four universities invited will begin immediately, with the goal of making a decision soon afterwards. The next set of official meetings begin February 6th thru the 8th at Rocky Mountain College as the Frontier Conference is optimistic to have an expansion agreement in place by then.
