Former Missoula Mayor picked as new State Revenue Director

HELENA - Montana Governor-elect Steve Bullock and Lieutenant Governor-elect John Walsh today announced that former Missoula Mayor and state legislator Mike Kadas will head the Department of Revenue in their new administration.

Kadas spent 10 years as Mayor of Missoula, and also served in the Montana House of Representatives from 1983 until 1996.

Mike Kadas comes to the Department of Revenue from Rivertop Renewables, where he is currently Director of Special Projects and worked in a variety of different positions since 2008.

In addition to his public service, Kadas was a member of the board of the League of Cities and Towns from 1998-2005, serving as its President in 2003.

Kadas has a Bachelor and Master of Arts from the University of Montana in Missoula, where he lives with Martha Newell. They have two sons.

"Mike knows what it's like to balance a budget and make payroll, and he's got what it takes to maintain our strong fiscal position," said Bullock.

"I'll look forward to working with Mike to making sure we take a balanced, responsible approach to managing the people's money."

Bullock has already announced the directors of Commerce, Corrections, Labor and Industry, Natural Resources and Conservation, Transportation and Environmental Quality.

He has also picked Tim Burton to serve as his Chief of Staff and Ali Bovingdon and Kevin O'Brien to be Deputy Chiefs of Staff.

Dan Villa will serve as Bullock's Budget Director.
