Former Griz McSurdy's rookie season ends abruptly

DALLAS - Cowboys rookie linebacker Caleb McSurdy, a seventh-round pick out of the University of Montana, suffered a torn achilles during practice and will miss the entirety of the season, according to NFL.com.

McSurdy had a chance to work his way into the linebacker rotation as a rookie, but he was not expected to make much of an immediate impact either way. McSurdy finished his lone preseason game Monday with four tackles, and now it looks like he will not have the opportunity to perform in a game until next season.
