BILLINGS-If you plan on ringing in the New Year with your own personal fireworks display within the Billings city limits, you might want to consider changing your plans. "It's against the city ordinance to light off any fireworks in the city limits," said Lieutenant Kevin Iffland with the Billings Police Department. The Billings city council passed an ordinance that makes it illegal to set off fireworks over the Fourth of July and New Year holidays. "Officers will respond to any called in complaints of fireworks over New Years Eve," Lt. Iffland said. The Lieutenant also mentioned the ordinance was passed because of fire danger and personal safety issues.
Fireworks are however, allowed outside of Billings, in Yellowstone County. There are no restrictions on fireworks in the county.
