BILLINGS - The containment lines around the Highway 87 Fire remained secure, despite gusty winds over the fire area last night, and fire managers report 90% containment this morning.
Overnight, firefighters patrolled the blaze, dousing hot spots and securing the lines. Plans today call for more of the same, with officials expecting to turn the fire back to the local department for patrol by this evening.
The Highway 87 Fire is 1933 acres. The fire is human-caused and an investigation continues. One home was destroyed in the fire, but no injuries have been reported.
