Fire damages garage in west Billings, cause under investigation

BILLINGS - A fire causes about $25,000 dollars worth of damage to a garage, Saturday night.
The Billings Fire Department responded to 2819 Manhattan Drive, just off 28th Street West, shortly after 9:00.

Billings Assistant Fire Marshal bill Tatum says the cause is still under investigation. The fire did not extend into the house. However, a pick-up truck sustained moderate damage to the front of the vehicle in the engine compartment.

Smoke and flames could be see coming from a garage area. The Billings Fire Department tells Q2 that the damage done by that fire was contained to the garage and the attic above the garage and damaged a vehicle parked near the garage.

Witnesses say they saw the fire begin in a trash can, and that there were people inside the home at the time of the fire. They were unaware of the fire until the fire department showed up. No injuries are reported.
