LAUREL - A fire Tuesday morning at the CHS refinery in Laurel caused a brief evacuation.
According to CHS Director of Corporate Communication Lani Jordan, the refinery experienced a small fire at about 8:45 a.m.
Operators on site were able to extinguished the fire quickly, but refinery fire teams did respond as a precaution.
No injuries were reported, but a temporary evacuation of the area was ordered.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and the damage appears to be minimal.
The fire sparked in an area of the refinery where gasoline is made.
