BILLINGS - Father's day gives children a chance to honor their dads, but also reminds dads about the role they play in their kid's lives.
That was part of the message at Lighthouse Baptist Church Sunday morning.
The church members then held their annual father's day banquet to celebrate, at Riverfront Park.
In past years, Pastor Josh Howey hosted the barbacue at his home, but the five-year old church has outgrown his yard.
The banquet follows the teachings of this morning's sermon, touching the father's role in raising children.
"Children are each individual special," Howey said. "They ought to be treated special, loved, cared for, nourished. They're our heirloom god says. They're an heirloom passed down from him given to us to raise and to train and so they are our most precious possession."
Pastor Howey says society diminishes the importance of fathers, so it's important to celebrate Father's Day.
