Father forgets 6-year-old child at rest stop

TROY, MT - A father accidentally left one of his kids at a rest area in northwest Montana.
Lincoln County Undersherrif Brent Faulkner said it happened Wednesday in Troy around 3 p.m.
An adult called 911 to report a 6-year-old alone at the rest stop. Faulkner said while deputies were arriving on scene, they received word the father had called 911 when he realized one of the kids was missing.
The dad had miscounted and didn't realize one of the kids was still in the restroom when he left.
Faulkner said the father was "obviously distraught" when he returned to pick up his child.
Faulkner said no charges will be filed in this incident and it was an unfortunate mistake.
