Dennis Schowengerdt of Deer Lodge made his first court appearance Monday after allegedly stabbing his wife to death on Saturday.
Schowengerdt, 65, is charged with felony deliberate homicide.
He reportedly stabbed his wife, Tina Schowengerdt, 66, with a foot-long knife at the couple's home on Saturday night. She died from her injuries.
Schowengerdt reportedly thought about running from authorities, but instead turned himself in Sunday morning.
He is being held at a Powell County Detention Center. His next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18.
Schowengerdt owns the MRC gas station in Deer Lodge.
