BUTTE - Alicia Knievel Vincent, daughter of legendary Butte daredevil Evel Knievel, shared some family memories as The Mining City celebrates Evel Knievel Days this weekend.
She noted, "He was a character, he was pretty much always Evel Knievel in everything he did but he also had a soft side... "
Alicia flipped through a family photo album and pointed to a photo of her and her father outside a tour bus; she noted, "I was really lucky. I got to see a lot of things other kids didn't. He took me with him...I rode bikes with him...if I said I wanted to stop to play mini golf he would. He was a good dad."
Alicia pointed to a photo of her father kissing her grandson and talked about how much he loved his grandkids.
She said that her father cared deeply about Butte, his family, and friends, adding that he was proud of his hometown.
Alicia says she never gets sick of hearing about her father no matter what the story and looks forward to the annual Evel Knievel Days.
She said, "We love Evel Days. The fans are amazing, my dad's fans. Some of them come from London every year and all over the United States. We're just close with all of them. They're the best bunch of goofballs you'll ever meet."
Evel Knievel performed his last jump in 1980 but his son Robbie Knievel carried on his father's legacy.
Alicia tells us she was never into stunts like some of her family, adding, "Robbie is so much like my dad. Exactly. The rest of us never really considered it. We are not dainty. My sister rides a bike, I ride a bike... sometimes. I don't know, I guess I just like keeping all of my bones together."
