HAMILTON - A 58-year-old Darby man is charged with poaching a trophy deer and yelling at a check station volunteer, trying to get her to change her story.
The Ravalli Republic reports James E. Robinson appeared Monday before Justice of the Peace James Bailey on felony counts of unlawful possession of a game animal and intimidation.
Prosecutors say Robinson killed a buck deer on Oct. 29 in a hunting district that requires a special license. Prosecutors say Robinson told a high school volunteer at a state game checkpoint that the buck was shot in an adjoining district. The girl because suspicious because there was no way to get to that district from the check station.
A few days later, Robinson allegedly yelled at the girl in an attempt to get her to change her story.
