Dangerous winds fuel Pony Fire

Air and ground resources are being pulled off the Pony Fire due to dangerous winds and intensified fire behavior, according to inciweb.org.

At around 1 p.m. the area of the Pony down to the Judson Mead Indiana University Research Station at the junction of South Boulder and Carmichael roads was evacuated.

The fire has grown to about 500 acres.

The local fire incident command team will shortly be transitioning from Type 3 (Agner) to a Type 2 (Kusico) National Incident Command Team for the Pony-Antelope complex of fires.

There is no word at this time on how many people are being evacuated, but they are being sent to an ambulance barn in Whitehall, officials said.
