Corral Fire evacuees can return home

HELENA- The Corral Fire burning in the Helena Valley is now about 40% contained, officials said Thursday morning and the total acreage burned by the fire remains at just over 1,800 acres.

People who were evacuated can go back to their homes effective at noon on Thursday, but Lewis & Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton cautions that there is a chance that they could be asked to re-evacuate if the fire were to re-ignite.

Fire Chief Jerry Shepherd says there are still hotspots and fire equipment working on the fire, and asks that people give wide berth to fire crews.
