Coroner releases names of 2 teens killed in crash near Elliston

UPDATE: The Powell County Coroner has released the names of the two teenagers who died in a motorcycle collision on Thursday.

The victims are 14 year old Cheyenne Harbour and 15 year old Jory Thomas, both from Elliston.

The name of the 14 year old Elliston female being treated at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula is not being released.


HELENA - The Montana Highway Patrol confirms that two teenagers have died after a motorcycle accident near Elliston on Thursday evening.

MHP was dispatched at about 11:40 pm to Highway 12, mile marker 22, for a report of a motorcycle accident.

The two motorcycles collided in the east bound lane of the highway.

The driver of the first motorcycle was a 14-year-old female from Elliston.

The driver of the second motorcycle was also a 14-year-female from Elliston; the second motorcycle was carrying a 15-year-old male passenger from Elliston.

The driver of the first motorcycle and the passenger of the second motorcycle both sustained fatal head injuries and were declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the second motorcycle was transported to St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.

None of the teenagers were wearing helmets. The first motorcycle did not have active head lamps.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated, but MHP says that speed was not a factor.
