A big award was handed out in Billings Wednesday afternoon.
Rocky Mountain College recognizes the Cliff Edwards family as the 2012 philanthropists of the year.
Through a property exchange with the college, the Edwards family swapped a hangar near the Billings Logan International Airport in exchange for property at 17th Street and Poly Drive, where the Edwards Law Firm built its new home.
"I think when you have a program that you respect already and you see it does wonderful things for students and it's a beneficial program to begin with, you know you're giving to a fabulous cause and a fabulous project and a well run program," says John Edwards. "We knew that to begin with and we decided it was something we wanted to do and that Rocky would put to good work."
The contribution difference totals $650,000. The Rocky Mountain aviation program uses the hangar to house all nine of its aircrafts. "It's a lot more than just this wonderful facility," said Dan Hargrove, the Director of Aviation at Rocky Mountain College. "Over the years they've done many things for the college and it's a very healthy relationship. It's a small token but it's important for the college collectively to thank them for their generosity towards us."
