RAWLINS, Wyo. (AP) - Carbon County is dismissing criminal charges against a former Rawlins police captain who had been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
The county attorney's office said Thursday it is dismissing charges against Adam Lee Meacham. Prosecutors this week said new evidence had surfaced concerning the time frame involved.
Meacham had denied wrongdoing. He was set to go to trial in Thermopolis next week.
In July, a Casper jury acquitted Meacham of five counts of child sexual abuse in a separate case.
Casper lawyer Michael Krampner represents Meacham. An attempt to reach Krampner for comment Thursday was not successful.
