CODY, WY-The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is taking on the new name of "Buffalo Bill Center of the West." Museum staff believes this new name lets visitors know the center contains more than just history.
Talk about switching over to a new name began about a year and a half ago. The naming committee hired a strategic branding firm to create a list of names and "Buffalo Bill Center of the West" made the cut.
Visitors to the museum will see signage and logos switch over to the new name throughout this year. Some of the first changes will be seen on the museum website.
Committee members decided to keep the name "Buffalo Bill" in the title because they feel travelers will identify the significance of the museum. Director of Strategic Projects, Dr. Tim White says this is the museum's way of moving forward.
