HELENA - When Billings took a 1 run lead in the 3rd from a Spencer Dickinson homerun, the Brewers knew a quick response would be necessary. Bottom of that same inning saw the home team rally for 3 runs to take a rare lead in the series.
The lead would only last until the 7th when the Mustangs took back control with a Brandon Dailey 3 run bomb to put the Ponies up 4-3. Again, Helena knew a they had to answer back right away. And they did.
In the bottom half of the 7th, the Brewers scored 3 runs of their own, capped off by a two run double from Mike Garza. Connor Whalen shut it down from there tossing two perfect innings for the save. The victory is only the second win of the season for Helena as they snap the Mustangs 5 game winning streak, 6-4.
Helena will host Missoula Monday while the Mustangs head over to Great Falls for a quick 2 game series in the Electric City before the 2 teams head back to Billings Wednesday to begin a 3 game set.
