BOZEMAN - A Bozeman man who was arrested for beating another man with a metal fence post then smashing windows at a Pizza Hut is in more trouble.

Philip Gilhousen, 39, was being held in the Gallatin County Detention Center on a charge of assault with a weapon when he reportedly used a lunch tray to break windows in his holding cell.

A sheriff's deputy was called to the detention center at around 11:40 a.m. Monday for a report of criminal mischief. According to court documents, when he got there, he found that Gilhousen had broken two windows in the holding cell. The windows are reportedly valued at more than $1,500. Gilhousen was charged for criminal mischief in that incident.

On Sept. 10, Bozeman police were called to Pizza Hut at 2300 West Main Street where a man was reportedly breaking windows.

Police interviewed a male victim who told them he was walking east towards Pizza Hut when he was approached by a man in a black coat and hood who was carrying a fence post. The victim says, without saying a word, Gilhousen walked up to him and hit him in the arm and in the stomach with the metal post, according to court documents.

The victim ran inside the Pizza Hut and that's when witnesses at the restaurant say Gilhousen began smashing windows. Before leaving, Gilhousen also reportedly started prying a license plate off of a Ford Expedition.

Gilhousen was charged with assault with a weapon in that incident.
