BILLINGS - UPDATE: Two people were taken to a local hospital after a plane crash in Billings Tuesday morning.
The crash happened just north of the Corporate Air Jet Center, west of Billings Logan International Airport, on runway 28.
The Federal Aviation Administration identified the pilot as Brian Kjensmo, and name of the passenger has not been released.
Director of Billings Logan International Airport Tom Binford says two men were on board the plane and both suffered injuries. Both were conscious when paramedics arrived. They were treated on scene, then taken to a local hospital. The extent of their injuries is unknown.
Binford says the small, single engine plane was cleared to land around 8:20 a.m.
Witnesses at Corporate Air say the plane came in for a landing, flared up a bit, and then the left wing made a violent dip. The wing hit the ground causing the plane to cartwheel over.
At this point the short runway is secured. Crews on scene are waiting for permission to remove the plane from the runway and clear the area. No air traffic has been disrupted.
Witnesses at Corporate Jet says an event like this is extremely rare.
Names of the passenger have not been released. It is speculated that they were both local residents.
