Billings officials confirm one man died in morning fire, more details released

UPDATE - Billings Police say the man who died in a house fire Tuesday morning was a 21 year old male.

While extinguishing the fire, BFD removed an unconscious 21 year old male out of the residence. CPR was performed on scene and the victim was taken to St. Vincent's hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The identity of the victim is not being released pending the notification of family members. A female occupant of the home was also treated at Billings Clinic for smoke inhalation. Her injuries are reported to be non-life threatening. There were several other occupants in the home that escaped without injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation at this time.

UPDATE - A Billings home went up in flames this morning taking with it, one life.

Officials have confirmed with Q2, that one adult male died from the fire. They are not yet releasing his idenity.

UPDATE: Five to seven people were inside a home when it caught fire in Billings this morning.

Everyone was able to get out, according to Billings Police Captain John Bedford.

Two people taken to Billings hospitals, a male and a female. The male is the same man that crews pulled from the home and were performing CPR on.

Two pets were inside the home. One pet survived and one did not.

The fire started at 10:55 a.m. A Billings police officer was driving by on an unrelated incident and was flagged down for help.

Police are now conducting a co-investigation with the fire department on the fire at the single family dwelling home at 1204 North 25th Street.

UPDATE: BILLINGS - Crews have pulled a young man from the home and appear to be performing CPR on that individual.

A witness who was driving by reportedly saw a woman jump from a window of the home.

The woman who jumped from the window reportedly kept yelling, "My nephew is in there."Another witness said he reportedly saw a police officer break down a door and pull another person from the home.

The fire seems to have been mostly extinguished at this time. Multiple neighbors have gathered outside. Two of them say they heard loud popping sounds coming from the home which alerted them to the fire.

FIRST REPORT BILLINGS - The Billings Fire Department, the Billings Police Department and AMR are at 1204 North 25th Street where a house is engulfed in flames.

Police have barracaded off traffic to the surrounding residential streets in every direction.
