Billings man flown to burn center in Salt Lake City after early morning fire

BILLINGS-The Billings Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that sent a man to the burn center in Salt Lake City. The fire destroyed a mobile home at 302 Jackson Street, #49. It began at 1:43 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to Deputy Fire Marshal Matt Schieno, the fire began when a husband and wife were inside of the home. The wife was able to escape without injury. The husband was initially taken to Saint Vincent Health Care and then flown to the burn center. Exact details on how severe the man's injuries were are not available.

The property and contents of the home were not insured. As of Wednesday morning, there was no estimation on the cost of damages.

The Billings Police Department is also assisting with the investigation. Lieutenant Kevin Iffland says it appears illegal drugs were being manufactured inside of the home. It is unclear at this time if this is what started the fire.

KTVQ will keep you updated with more information as it becomes available.
