HYSHAM - Treasure County Sheriff Wayne Robison confirms that 26-year-old Luke Herring died from drowning in the Yellowstone River near Hysham.
Herring was first reported missing September 11, when he failed to return to the ranch where he was working.
Herring's horse was found dead in the river that night.
After nearly a week-long search of the river, Herring's body was spotted Monday by a helicopter pilot who was helping in the search.
Sheriff Robison tells Q2 News that the autopsy found that Herring suffered no other injuries.
Authorities believe Herring was trying to recover some cattle that were stranded on an island in the river, when he disappeared.
