BILLINGS - The autopsy on a body found northeast of Billings confirmed the deceased man is Dejuan Laster, 29.
The former Billings resident was abducted by two men last week, while he was in town visiting from Illinois.
Authorities are declining to pinpoint the exact cause of death.
That's because the case has now turned from a kidnapping into a murder investigation.
Billings Police Chief Rich St. John said it appears Laster died of gunshot wounds, but no other details have been made public.
Laster was allegedly kidnapped early Thursday morning at a Billings hotel by two men impersonating FBI agents.
This past Sunday, Laster's body was discovered in a culvert near Shepherd.
Two suspects in Laster's disappearance are in custody.
James Walker, 33, of Billings was arrested Saturday morning on charges of aggravated kidnapping and robbery.
He's being held in the Yellowstone County Detention Facility.
Simon Jacobson, 28, was arrested Monday afternoon in Colorado by the U.S. Marshal Task Force.
He's now in the Denver jail on a probation violation, pending his extradition back to Montana.
A fund has been set up to help Laster's family with funeral costs at Wells Fargo Bank locations in Billings.
