BILLINGS - The Montana Automobile Dealers Association has been meeting in Billings this week...with its main issue - how to protect its dealers.
National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Chair Bill Underriner - of Billings -spoke to the annual convention this afternoon.
Tax issues and manufacturer's two-tier pricing are some major concerns.
Underriner says another issue is that manufacturers want dealers to build what he calls "garage-mahals."
The NADA wants to determine what sort of return a dealer can expect on investing millions in bigger showrooms.
"We're going out to accounting firms of dealerships and trying to figure out, what is the return on investment because none of the manufacturers can tell you," Underrinder said. "You know they wouldn't go out and build a plant without knowing what the return on investment was. Manufacturers are forcing dealers to make these upgrades."
The Montana Automobile Dealers convention runs through tomorrow.
