The Cascade County Sheriff's Office, a veterinarian, and the Montana Department of Livestock are investigating a case of possible animal neglect.

We're told as many as five horses may be neglected at the B-Bar-C stables on 60th Street.

Our conversations with those involved in the case have revealed that the animals' owners are the Lamont and Old Turtle families of Great Falls.

Stable owner KC Lewis tells us he does not condone the treatment of the animals and tried for months to contact the owners about the condition of the horses.

According to multiple sources the horses were not being fed on a regular basis.

Hay has since been donated by the Montana Horse Sanctuary and the animals are being fed.

Lewis says the horses are currently locked in an enclosure until a determination is made on possible charges.

We will update you as we learn more.
