LAME DEER - A Montana man is dead after being struck by a vehicle near Lame Deer.
Rosebud County Sheriff Randy Allies identified the victim as Willis Ridgebear, 27, of Lame Deer.
The crash happened about three to four miles north of Lame Deer on Highway 39 at about 4 a.m. Tuesday.
Sheriff Allies said Ridgebear was lying in the road when a minivan struck him.
The driver of the minivan reported the incident immediately, but Ridgebear died on scene.
It is unknown why Ridgebear was lying in the road. Sheriff Allies said the man was wearing dark clothing.
The Bureau of Indian Affairs is investigating the accident.
