BOZEMAN - Federal agents raided USA Brass Company this week, and it's not the first time the company has come under scrutiny.
Federal investigators with the Environmental Protection Agency and FBI were inside USA Brass on Thursday morning.
"We are investigating alleged violations of environmental law and at this time there is no immediate danger to the public," said Bert Marsden, a criminal investigator with the EPA.
That was all that was being said about the raid. Agents could be seen inside, going through evidence and collecting items and taking them to a truck parked outside.
USA Brass provides brass for individual ammunition reloaders and commercial ammunition manufacturers. Last September, OSHA announced that USA Brass had 10 serious violations.
Some 22 employees of the company were found to have elevated levels of lead in their blood. OSHA recommended the company be fined.
A sign on the front door said the company would reopen Friday morning.
