BILLINGS - The five-year-old boy who was shot last night at High Sierra Park in the Heights remains in stable condition.
Billings Police have been investigating the shooting and are still releasing little information on the incident.
Billings Police Detective Casey Hafner says the boys condition remains stable, following surgery last night.
He also says the gun involved is a 22-caliber rifle, and he says, both boys and their parents have been interviewed.
The shooting happened in the undeveloped part of High Sierra Park, northwest of the dog park.
Police say an eight-year old shot a five-year old boy in the in the pelvis.
The boy had been left alone for about 15 minutes.
A man walking his dog came upon the boy who was waiting there with a girl who had found him.
The man called 911 around 6:15 last night.
An ambulance took the five-year old victim,who had life-threatening injuries, to St. Vincent Healthcare.
Last night, police said it was possible that the boys were target practicing with the rifle, but that has not been confirmed.
Detective Hafner says, police need to interview a couple more people before determining what happened yesterday.
He says police will not release the names of the children, but other information may be available next week.
