HELENA - The Montana High School Association has announced that three longtime officials will be inducted into the Montana Officials Association Hall of Fame this year.
MHSA executive director Mark Beckman says Irvin Heitz of Whitefish, Alan Lear of Corvallis and David Zieske of Plentywood will be honored.
Heitz has been an official for 29 years, including being ranked as a master or top-rated volleyball official for 23 years. He was chosen to officiate 15 state tournaments. He officiated boys' and girls' basketball at the master level for 26 years and officiated football for four years.
Zieske officiated boys' and girls' basketball for 25 years, including 23 as a master, and has officiated over 20 state basketball tournaments. He also refereed football for 17 years.
Lear also officiated boys' and girls' basketball for 25 years, 22 as a master official, and refereed more than 20 state tournaments.
