BILLINGS - Investigators wrap up their investigation three months after fire tore through a horse barn on Billings west end killing 19 horses and devastating families of the beloved pets.
Tuesday night, city and county investigators announce at this time the cause of the fire at the High Plains Stable along 70th Street West is undetermined. Billings Fire Marshal Mike Spini says Billings Fire, Billings Police, Yellowstone County Sheriff's Office, and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, worked together on this case.
In addition, Spini says multiple private investigators and electrical engineers also conducted interviews and thorough investigations. An examination of the barn's electrical system turned up inconclusive.
In earlier interviews with Q2, Spini acknowledged rumors surrounding the blaze but told us authorities have no evidence to support arson. Investigators were able to determine the fire started on the north end of the barn.
10 horses housed outside the barn survived the blaze.
